The Opportunity

Following a call for proposals launched in 2023, Niagara Parks is advancing a project to build a new Visitor Transportation System that will provide seamless travel and connection within the core tourism area of Queen Victoria Park.

The proposed system is an eco-friendly, electric and fully accessible elevated tram system that will provide seamless access to top attractions. Part transit system, part attraction, it will feature five key stations across a 7.6 – kilometre route with panoramic glass passenger capsules that will offer never-before-seen views of Niagara Falls and the surrounding landscape.

Niagara Parks has signed a Letter of Intent with Society Developments, as part of a joint venture with Marks Barfield Architects, to design, build, finance, operate and maintain the new system through a long-term lease agreement, subject to approval by the Province.

Project Goals

• Enhance the overall guest experience by allowing seamless travel and connection between key Niagara Parks sites, while also acting as a new visitor attraction and visitor demand generator for the area.

• Present an environmentally sustainable and fully accessible solution that decreases carbon emissions and improves traffic congestion and visitor flow by reducing the number of vehicles within Queen Victoria Park.

• Provide a new revenue-generating opportunity for Niagara Parks, while reducing operating expenses, similar to other successful tenant partner agreements the organization currently manages.
